PUBLIC WORKS
The Board signed bills and requests for leave.  The following discussions took place.
The compactor and the proposal due from Willimantic Waste.
The low turn out for the referendum vote.  Public Works wanted to put signs out at the opening of the polls but they were told it was not necessary.  Later that day the signs were put out when it became obvious it was necessary.  It was agreed that as a policy we would always put signs out for any vote.
Discussion on the gate at River Road Recreation, cars drive around it.  It might be better just to leave it open.
A rough estimate for the rails at the Transfer Station is $87/foot.  Lynn will measure the rails.
An updated report on GASB was given to the Board.
There was an accident involving a school bus on Ruby Road, near Fed Ex, no children were on the bus and the bus driver was not hurt.  Discussion on stop signs up there followed.  DOT is not in favor of stop signs there.
Culverts on Ridgeway and Tinkerville Roads and the date the FEMA money must be spent by and the amount of money received from FEMA for the Tinkerville Road project.  A request must be made to the Board of Finance by their May 17th meeting, permission from Inland/Wetlands obtained and a Town Meeting held on this all before mid June.  It was decided to request an extension.  Discussion on different ways to handle the project followed.  Lynn and Karl Acimovic will look at it and decide the best way.
Discussion on the grievance regarding smoking in municipal buildings and vehicles followed.  It was agreed the Department Heads would look into this.  Discussion on the resolutions of grievances followed.
